Any time of the year is a wonderful time to visit this amazing place and have a adventure. Entering Sedona Arizona you understand the phrase "God's Country."

Sedona is located in Northern Arizona, just ninety minutes North of Phoenix and two hours south of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. It has a small municipal airport and there are shuttles available from Phoenix Airport. The ride by auto coming from Nevada by way of Hoover Dam and Highway 40 (about five hours) is a beautiful ride. From Los Angeles, the tide is about eight hours via Interstate 10.

Sedona marries the best of outdoor activity, dining, shopping and relaxing. Surrounded by the beautiful red rocks of Sedona, every angle of every day these views are breathtaking. Hiking, beautiful viewing vistas, horseback riding, jeep tours, Balloon tours, even tours in a custom hummer. While some of these adventures are bumpy and not recommended for the pup, we did find pet sitters that can take care of them while you play.

The area is filled with Southwest and Native American Culture. Healing powers are strong here in the valley, and with the telling of "vortexes" that are all around the area, meditation and spiritual awareness are told to be heightened.

The accommodations in Sedona are stellar. There are resorts and beautiful Bed and Breakfast accommodations that we highly recommend. Well-behaved dogs are welcomed almost everywhere.

We stayed and met with fun dog welcoming places and even have a great "Horse-Friendly" B&B to recommend.

Sedona is a magical beautiful place for both the pup and you. With its fresh air, desert living, excellent food and nice people BKT rates Sedona as one of our favorite Domestic Destinations.

Sedona offers an excellent selection of accommodations for you and your pup in all price ranges.
Here are some of Bailey's recommendations!

The Hilton Sedona Offering a full service resort facility including room service (which was good) and a great alternative is fine dining in Sedona, yet not that pet friendly. The Hilton onsite restaurants faire was also very good and the service as well. It was great while Bailey took a nap in our room he let us grab dinner onsite. We checked in with the Front desk and let them know he was alone in the room and we were in the restaurant eating. We left our cell number just in case Bailey began to bark for us. Accommodations & Service Pups are allowed in any room, any size no limitations. Location The hotel is located about 4 miles from the main part of Sedona (called the Y). It is a lovely easy drive, but you must drive to get to anything from the Hilton's location. Overall Fun Rating (Walking access to Pup friendly activities.)   The Hilton's facilities are top notch, with Pool and Jacuzzi with Red Rock Mountain views and they allow dogs most anywhere onsite. If you are in the mood to pamper, they have a full service spa with renowned treatments. For those of us that need to work while we travel, for an additional fee, you can plug into the Internet using the hotel's high-speed access directly from your room. The town and grounds are great to walk around, but hiking areas and parks are not within walking distance.

There are amazing Bed and Breakfasts in Sedona. We only had time to visit them but plan on going back and staying at both!

Grace's Secret Garden Located in the Bell Rock Canyon area Grace has lovely quaint rooms, this is a bed and breakfast is hugged by the red rocks on all sides. When we stopped by Grace was baking for her afternoon snack and she let us take a sample, and it was wonderful. This cozy home is comfortable and accommodating. Along with dogs, Grace can even accommodate horses in a well-kept stable on her grounds. Accommodations Service Location Overall Fun Rating (Walking access to Pup friendly activities.) The B&B is located about 6 miles from the main part of Sedona (called the Y). It is a lovely easy drive. Grace's is located in a very rural area where you could walk undisturbed. This area is secluded and beautiful but we do remind you that this is the desert and you should exercise precautions, as native wildlife is present.

The Lodge at Sedona Is absolutely beautiful. This lodge has two rooms that are pet friendly. Even with the reasonable restrictions they have, it doesn't mean that your dog isn't made to feel welcomed, they absolutely are! From the moment you arrive, the service shines, as the host provides you with personal assistance during the entire check in process. You may need to wait if you are checking in at peak times, but the beautiful lodge offers wonderful fireplace sitting area's to sit and unwind in while your waiting, it is truly no sacrifice. Accommodations Service Location The hotel is located about 3 miles from the main part of Sedona (called the Y). Overall Fun Rating (Walking access to Pup friendly activities.) Since Bailey loved the labyrinth! The area is great for exploring and they have a labyrinth in the back of the lodge, in the lobby there is a flyer that gives you information on how best to walk it and some interesting facts on labyrinths. Bailey loved the Lodge at Sedona, especially the labyrinth; he has already requested that he wants to stay at the Lodge at Sedona at our next visit! Accommodations in Sedona fit every price range and amenities requirement.

Sedona Summary

Sedona has many outdoor activities that you can do on your own and with your own pace. We recommend either driving to Sedona, or renting a vehicle during your stay, the area is spread out and you will want to drive to the many different areas to experience the activities. (Flying into Phoenix and renting a car its about a two-hour drive to Sedona.) There are many hikes in the area that range from Easy to Difficult and you will spend quite a bit of time just pulling over admiring views and you must bring your camera! Finding and learning about the "Vortexes" at the very least will have you exploring every corner of Sedona. Since most of the accommodations do request that you not leave the pup alone in the room, we do recommend that for Fine Dining you have a vehicle to bring the dog with you. Most of the restaurants that we visited were self-parking, so no valets to be concerned with.

Sedona is a casual town, and we saw no places that required formal attire. The food in town was very good with all taste buds represented. From local Southwest Faire, to Pizza and Fine Italian Dining (we enjoyed Dahl and DeLuca www.dahl-diluca.com - reservations highly recommended).

We located several pet sitters that will come to the hotel if you prefer as an alternative to the car, or if you wish to enjoy some time at the spa and don't want to leave the pup alone arrangements can be made. Sedona is a small town, with two veterinarians, no 24-hour emergency care, but I do imagine that these vets may be on call for emergencies. A boutique Pet Store was opened during normal business hours.
